Abstract:The survey article text provides an overview of the key literature on the topic of moral imagination and its role in applied ethics. The paper concentrates on literature – academic papers and books – mostly published between 2010 to this date. Moral imagination is thematized across various areas of applied ethics, but its widest use is shown by business ethics, bioethics and lately cyberethics. The presented overview of recent publications shows that individual subdisciplines of applied ethics emphasize different aspects of moral imagination, depending on the focus of individual branches. Despite several empirical studies conducted, moral imagination remains more of a theoretical concept. However, especially in the area of the development of modern technologies, voices demanding its application in solving ethical dilemmas with potentially far-reaching consequences for humanity, are increasingly being heard.
