The objective of this paper is a critical analysis of contemporary media discourse influencing media presentation of religious contents that are crucial for how they are perceived by society. We achieved this objecti-ve by means of a case study reflecting some of the most discussed as-pects of Islam's moral system as possible prerequisites for the emergen-ce of islamophobia. Research of religious traditions and religious forms demonstrates that all the world's religions have to deal with more or less controversial interpretations of some principles that subsequently beco-me easy victims of (not only mainstream) mass media. Since this gene-rally concerns principles with potential impact on social structures, poli-tical mood, public opinion and social processes as such, the way of how these principles are presented in the media may also have considerable effects on recipients and their attitudes toward religious and cultural fo-reigners. Therefore, we suppose that the issue of religious principles, often presented as isolated phenomena by the media, is currently a par-ticularly relevant subject of research by media philosophy.
