Abstract: This paper focuses on the terminological and practical differences between the perception of the neighbors (it is also a terminological problem in the Slovak language). We point to different human atti-tudes to people based on dissimilarity. What is the difference bet-ween the neighbor and the neighbor? Why we see one of the neighbors like a human being living near to us and another one like a friend? Which social problems we can solve if our perception of another people like neighbors will be similar to perception of them like firends.
