Abstract: The aim of this paper is to expose the basic outlines of Locke’s arguments about the justification for resistance to the illegitimate authority and the premises of its reasoning. We devise this main objection in two parts – at first we focus on the state of nature where that reasoning has its foundation and then we provide a closer inspection of the right for resistance in Locke’s Two Treatises of Government. At the end we define the basic features of Locke’s concept of society taking into account the purpose of its constitution.
