Abstract: Discussions of the implications of the contextuality of care practice for the possibilities of the globalization of care and care ethics as a normative theory have been intensely present within feminist care ethics since the 1990s and are now responding to the increasing global challenges in relation to care in different spheres of life. The author outlines the genesis of addressing the above question in the space of feminist ethics of care from its emergence to contemporary debates. She sees the specific potential for addressing contemporary issues, particularly concerning the possibility of caring for the different and thus coming to terms with the dualistic framing of care between particularism and universalism, in Maurice Hamington's (2004) concept of embodied care.
